    evosonic-Logo Save evosonic!

back to top evosonic's dead :(

As it looks, we won't have an evosonic radio no more. They are offline since November, the 1st 1999 and they don't have any remaining money due to a lack of financial partners. That means no cool electronic music for whole Germany for a long time. It's over! Don't become a member of Neukult e.V. anymore!
Here is a short recapitulation of the scandal that took place in Germany in early summer 1998:

evosonic had been on air nationwide through cable and ASTRA Sattelite (on the frequencies of SuperRTL) until July, the 1st 1998. This nationwide broadcasting network comes to a expense of some DM 100.000,- a year (exact charts on the evosonic site). Due to open bills, Super RTL cut off their frequencies for evosonic at July, the 1st 1998 - all legal. evosonic had already signed a new contract for using the frequencies of PHOENIX (a public ducumentation channel, supported by ARD and ZDF). ASTRA gave its okay. All was perfect, until the glorious WDR, the biggest of Germany's federal broadcasting networks, said NO! Why? As they support PHOENIX technically, they would have the right to consider who would use PHOENIX' tone frequencies. ASTRA says, the WDR is wrong in this point: Only ASTRA would have the right to reserve channels.
Sounds like much work for a bunch of lawyers, and evosonic is Off Air at present. (Ian Hemp, 4th of July 1998)
